STATE OF NEVADA DEPARTMENMT OF PUBLIC SAFETY
EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT DIVISION
- Letter dated July 5, 2011 from Interim Chief James Wright Department of Public Safety, Division of Emergency Management.
- VHRU response to the above letter dated July 8, 2011
- VHRU Letter dated October 3, 2011 to Governor Brian Sandoval relative to the decision to eliminate funding to the VHRU by DPS-Division of Emergency Management.
- Letter dated December 19, 2011 from the Office of the Governor, State of Nevada, General Counsel.
As you can see from the above correspondence, the State of Nevada Department of Public Safety had no understanding of who we are and how we were authorized to possess a State of Nevada ID card. Unbelievable, for a person in this position not to know what a State resource was for the past 7 years when all Interim Chief Wright had to do was to talk with his staff.
Losing our funding was not the real issue. We are fully equipped and the organization has enough funds in our Treasury to carry us forward for a few years. What was so insulting concerning this decision, not even a thank you for giving 10 years of our time to help our State, community and local police agencies.
We are very disappointed that the Department of Public Safety has this type of leadership. Now we understand better why the State of Nevada is the lowest in volunteerism in the country.
